Porth Mawr Phase II
Recclesia has been awarded Phase II works at Porth Mawr in Caernarfon for Cadw. Having completed Phase I enabling works in 2019, Recclesia will begin Phase II in January 2020. The six-month project is the next step in the phased transformation of the gatehouse building at the heart of Caernarfon town centre.
Phase II will see the more complex conservation and repair work undertaken ahead of the reordering of the internal spaces. The works include re-roofing, repointing and repair of the masonry elevations, conservation and repair of the cast-iron windows, and internal archaeological excavation.
Recclesia Managing Director Jamie Moore said, "I am thrilled that Recclesia has been appointed again as Principal Contractor to undertake this next phase of works for Cadw. This project really plays to our strengths as a conservation specialist as the scope of work involves all of our in-house skills, allowing us to coordinate conservation treatments between the various disciplines involved in breathing new life into this beautiful building."
The £500,000 project will run from January 2020 with completion anticipated in June.
