Recclesia has begun work in Newcastle city centre on one of its most iconic buildings. The Newcastle City Pool and Northumberland Baths are being transformed as part of an HLF grant funded project hand in hand with Newcastle City Council. The work will see the dilapidated pool and Turkish baths which closed some five years ago, returned to working order with state of the art health club and gym facilities.
Recclesia was originally commissioned to undertake extensive survey work of all of the roof lanterns and metal windows at the City Pool, Northumberland Baths and the adjoining Newcastle City Hall, which it completed in 2017. The project planning eventually came to fruition in mid 2018 and Recclesia was awarded the specialist metalwork contract to address numerous issues with the gigantic roof lanterns over the pool rooms and side rooms, and repair all of the original metal windows throughout the building.
Recclesia Managing Director Jamie Moore said "we are thrilled to have been asked to work on this project. Not only did we put a huge amount of work into the survey and condition report pre-contract, we also fell in love with the building itself! Newcastle is a terrific city to work in and we're proud to be part of this truly exciting project."
