Recclesia, as principal contractor, was commissioned to conserve and repair the grade II listed North Entrance to the park. The project involved extensive masonry conservation along with repair and partial reproduction of cast iron railings, stone posts and chain links, followed by landscaping works to open up the entrance and make the approach more welcoming.
The restoration of the North Entrance was guided by historical research during which several old photos of the entrance were discovered. Much of the original metalwork along the frontage was handed over to help the war effort. The style, shape and layout of the masonry and metalwork was extrapolated from the information available to ensure that the work was a considered interpretation of the original design.
Recclesia also carried out several phases of repair to the park boundary walls.
